Enrico Albrici, born in Vilminore in Val di Scalve in 1714, was a pupil of Ferdinando del Cairo in Brescia. He was active in Bergamo and in Brescia, where his works can be seen in the Churches of Santa Maria dei Miracoli and in Santa'Alessandro. In 1763 he left for Bergamo where he began his activity as a "Bamboccianti" following in the footsteps of Faustino Bocchi. In 1765 he decorated a salon in Palazzo Marenzi in Bergamo with "Bamboccianti" and in 1772 he worked for Robiati in Milano. The Chiantore Collection in Torino has a series of three paintings illustrating Gulliver's trip in Lilliput. Enrico Albrici died in Bergamo in 1775.

The present drawing is an important addition to the small graphic oeuvre of Enrico Albrici, which consist of three secure drawings and another two attributed drawings. The present sheet is in fact a preparatory study for the painting in the private collection in Milano illustrating the "Preparation for a Banquet", which is part of a series by Albrici entitled "Matrimony". The three other secure drawings are also preparatory studies for the same painting and are of about the same dimension and the same technique of watercolour, squared with black chalk.
